Chapeltown Silver Prize Band are pleased to announce a new signing to the Baritone section!
Richard Ellis began his 43 year playing career at the age of 9 with the Lofthouse Colliery Band. He was 1 of 5 Ellis family members in the band at the time.
Since Lofthouse, he has played in bands across the county, including Strata Brass, Yorkshire Volunteer Band, Frickley South Elmsall, and most recently Rockingham.
But it was at Grimethorpe B Band, where he met the love of his life, Adele. He has 2 children who both play instruments (Cornet and Drums) so they are keeping their family tradition alive!
Most of his playing career Richard played cornet and trumpet in a soul band but earlier this year moved onto baritone.
Outside of the band Richard enjoys weekends away in his motorhome, DIY and anything to do with cars!
“Richard has come to Chapeltown with a wealth of banding experience and seems to be really enjoying his new instrument. He’s slotted into the section and the band well and we’re looking forward to moving forwards with him in the team.”
Colum O’Shea, Musical Director
Welcome Richard! 👋
