We’re really pleased to welcome a duo of great additions to Chapeltown Band as Sophie Barwick joins the horn section and Callum Hill on the Trombone line!
Musical Director Colum O’Shea comments:
“Sophie & Callum are talented musicians and their wealth of experience and hard working nature meets the bands culture well. Bringing in another couple to the band further highlights the family orientation here at Chapeltown, joining many other spouses, siblings, parents, and children”.
Between them they have over 30 years of banding experience, across a range of sections and in Callum’s case, even a range of instruments! After trying out the valves, he’s recently found his favourite positions on trombone, with Audley Brass.
Sophie is also no stranger to Yorkshire banding as she’s been a student at the University of Sheffield for the last 5 years where she played in the uni band alongside her seat in the Unite the Union Band. She has also played with the Roberts Bakery Band in Cheshire too.
Outside of banding Sophie is starting a PhD in material science and engineering at the University of Sheffield and Callum is a primary school teacher.
Commenting on their signing, Sophie and Callum say:
“We’re both very excited to finally be joining a band together and Chapeltown are a perfect fit. The band have been so friendly and welcoming. We’re really looking forward to the opportunities we’ll get with the band – starting with our first performance at Bolsover in a couple of weeks”.
